Denim Shirt Jacket Project

I purchased a denim jacket online, which is already pretty cute.

Next, I ordered some Black Lace and 2nd Black Lace to add.  I want to try decorating or experimenting to see how it will turn out.

First, I try the bottom frayed hem to see how it looks.

Next, I double layered the lace with the shorter satin side down atop the wider lace.  I was looking both ways at the layers and decided it looks better this way.  Here’s how it looks thus far:

Next, I added lace and adornments to the sleeves. I’ve been holding on to an old silver linked bracelet that belonged to my great grandmother; Annabelle Sweet.  I separated the links and sewed one to each sleeve.

I’m thinking of adding more in other places as well.

I know I jump around projects quite a bit.  It’s just how my mind works.

I added the shorter sheer black to the inside panel where the button holes are.  I was careful not to stitch the button holes closed.  Next, I reinforced the lace on a lower ripped look section by just cutting a piece of the longer lace, folding it in, and sewing it down.  I feel like it might need more of something.

Next, I placed my Easy Press on the wet section and let it dry for awhile.

After the top wing section has dried, repeat process on the bottom section.

I found some adhesive strips; rose gold color pearl and stone beading.

As you see, I added them to the collar and at the top of the pockets. Next, using three different types of fabric in cream I made flowers to adorn more of the jacket.

Here’s how:  1st, I cut 8 three inch squares of each fabric type.  I used a cream poly cotton, cream tulle, and non wired ribbon.

The jackets are available at my Etsy store by clicking here.
